Rudra’s Omitted Share in the Yajña (रुद्रभागानुपपत्तिः — यज्ञोपाख्यानम्)
लोकयज्जैर्नयजैश्व कपर्दी विदधे धनु: । धनु: सृष्टमभूत् तस्य पठ्चकिष्कुप्रमाणत:
lokayajñair manuṣyayajñaiś ca kapardī vidadhe dhanuḥ | dhanuḥ sṛṣṭam abhūt tasya pañca-kiṣku-pramāṇataḥ ||
毗湿摩波耶那说:结发的主湿婆以“世间之祭”与“人众之祭”的仪轨,铸成一张弓。他所造之弓,长五基什库(古制长度单位)。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse links the creation of a weapon to yajña (sacrificial order), implying that power should be rooted in sacred discipline and cosmic/social welfare, not in uncontrolled aggression.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Lord Śiva (Kapardī) creates a bow through specific sacrificial rites, and the bow’s size is specified as five kiṣkus, emphasizing its deliberate, measured construction.
