Rudra’s Omitted Share in the Yajña (रुद्रभागानुपपत्तिः — यज्ञोपाख्यानम्)
na tan manasi kartavyaṃ na ca tad drauṇinā kṛtam | mahādevaprasādena kuru kāryam anantaram ||
The verse cautions against attributing events solely to human intention or prowess and urges disciplined action: do not brood over a mistaken assumption, recognize the role of divine favor (Mahādeva’s grace), and proceed promptly with the next rightful duty.
Vaiśampāyana, narrating the events of the Sauptika episode, frames Drauṇi’s deed as not merely his own doing but as enabled by Mahādeva’s grace, and he directs attention away from unhelpful mental fixation toward immediate, necessary action in the unfolding aftermath.
