Aśvatthāman’s Curse, Parikṣit’s Future, and the Mani’s Restitution

毗耶娑说道:因为你全然不顾我等,竟对我等行下残酷之事;又因为你连对一位正直的婆罗门也采取如此行径——所以你的品行才堕落至此。
व्यास उवाच
The verse frames moral causality: disregard for dharma—especially disrespect and violence toward the righteous and toward brāhmaṇas—leads to degraded conduct and invites blame and consequence. Ethical restraint and reverence for the virtuous are presented as safeguards against cruel action.
Vyāsa speaks in reproach, pointing to a cruel deed done in contempt and highlighting that the addressee has behaved improperly even toward a righteous brāhmaṇa. The statement functions as a moral indictment within the grim aftermath of the night-raid context of the Sauptika Parva.
