अध्याय १ — न्यग्रोधवनोपवेशनम् तथा द्रौणिनिश्चयः
Night at the Banyan and Drauṇi’s Resolve
महास्वनं महाकायं हर्यक्ष॑ं बभ्रुपिड्गलम् सुदीर्घधघोणानखरं सुपर्णमिव वेगितम्
mahāsvanaṃ mahākāyaṃ haryakṣaṃ babhrupiṅgalam | sudīrghaghrāṇanakharaṃ suparṇam iva vegitam ||
三阇耶说道：“它声如雷霆，体躯巨大；眼呈黄褐之色，身羽褐中带赤金。喙与爪极其修长，疾速如迦楼罗。”这番描绘加重了夜袭的不祥气息，显出一股可怖的掠食之势，仿佛映照着即将到来的屠戮之阿达摩与恐惧。
