नारद उवाच
The verse underscores the dharmic value of tīrthas—publicly revered places associated with purification, worship, and moral discipline—implying that a king should honor sacred traditions and cultivate inner restraint through recognized dharmic practices.
Nārada is addressing Yudhiṣṭhira and enumerating a set of famous tīrthas (many identified with rivers), continuing a broader description of sacred places known for religious merit and observance.
