One should cultivate virtues by taking exemplary qualities from nature and life: patience from the earth, radiance and steadiness from the sun, strength from the wind, and inner wealth (virtue and character) by learning from all beings—so that one can uphold dharma under pressure.
In Sabha Parva, Vidura is delivering moral and political counsel, urging the listener to build inner resources and ethical resilience by observing the elements and living beings, a hallmark of Vidura’s nīti (statecraft and dharma instruction).
