Renewed Summons to the Dice-Game and Exile Wager
द्रौपहयुवाच कथं त्वेवं वदसि प्रातिकामिन् को हि दीव्येद् भार्यया राजपुत्र: । मूढो राजा द्यूतमदेन मत्तो हाभून्नान्यत् कैतवमस्य किंचित्,द्रौोपदीने कहा--प्रातिकामिन! तू ऐसी बात कैसे कहता है? कौन राजकुमार अपनी पत्नीको दाँवपर रखकर जूआ खेलेगा? क्या राजा युधिष्ठिर जूएके नशेमें इतने पागल हो गये कि उनके पास जुआरियोंको देनेके लिये दूसरा कोई धन नहीं रह गया?
drauapady uvāca kathaṃ tv evaṃ vadasi prātikāmin ko hi dīvyed bhāryayā rājaputraḥ | mūḍho rājā dyūtamadena matto hābhūn nānyat kaitavam asya kiṃcit ||
德劳帕蒂说道:“普拉提迦敏,你怎能如此说话?哪有王子会以自己的妻子为赌注而掷骰?难道坚战王竟被骰戏之狂醉迷得这般昏乱,以至再无他物可供赌徒索取?这分明只是欺诈。”
वैशग्पायन उवाच
The verse condemns gambling-driven moral collapse and challenges the legitimacy of treating a wife as property to be wagered, framing such an act as adharma and deceit rather than rightful conduct.
After being summoned in the dice-hall, Draupadī confronts the messenger Prātikāmin, questioning how Yudhiṣṭhira could stake her in the game and suggesting that the claim rests on trickery born of gambling-madness.
