Adhyāya 59: Vidura’s Admonition to Duryodhana after the Summons of Draupadī (सभा पर्व)

vaiśampāyana uvāca | praviśya tāṃ sabhāṃ pārthā yudhiṣṭhira-purogamāḥ | sametya pārthivān sarvān pūjārhān abhipūjya ca |
毗湿摩耶那说道:“阇那美阇耶王啊,般度五子以坚战(郁提希提罗)为首,步入那王家大集会之堂。他们与在座诸王一一相见,并依礼依序,按尊卑次第向应受敬礼者致敬。寒暄礼毕,众人各就其位,坐于陈设精美、式样繁多的座席之上,席间铺陈华毯锦褥,庄严而悦目。”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Before disputes or moral tests arise, dharma in a royal court begins with restraint and proper conduct: acknowledging hierarchy, honoring those worthy of respect, and maintaining decorum in public assemblies.
Vaiśampāyana narrates the Pāṇḍavas’ arrival in the assembly hall. Led by Yudhiṣṭhira, they greet the gathered kings and formally honor the respected elders and rulers, setting the stage for the ensuing events and dialogue.
