अक्षदेवन-प्रवर्तनम् | Commencement of the Dice Game
एवं दृष्टवा नाभिविन्दामि शर्म समीक्षमाणो<पि कुरुप्रवीर । तेनाहमेवं कृशतां गतश्न विवर्णतां चैव सशोकतां च
evaṁ dṛṣṭvā nābhivindāmi śarma samīkṣamāṇo ’pi kurupravīra | tenāham evaṁ kṛśatāṁ gataś ca vivarṇatāṁ caiva saśokatāṁ ca ||
杜尤陀那说:“库鲁的勇士啊,见此情形,即便细细思量,我也寻不得安宁。因此我竟至消瘦憔悴,面色与光彩尽失,并被忧愁所吞没。”
दुर्योधन उवाच
Unchecked envy and fixation on others’ success destroys inner peace: even careful reflection cannot soothe a mind ruled by jealousy, leading to physical and emotional deterioration.
In the Sabha Parva context, Duryodhana reacts to what he has witnessed in the royal assembly—others’ rising fortune and honor—and confesses that it has robbed him of peace, making him pale, weak, and grief-stricken.
