Chapter 50
tatra māṃ prāhasat kṛṣṇaḥ pārthena saha susvaram | draupadī ca saha strībhir vyathayantī mano mama |
The verse highlights how wounded pride and the memory of public ridicule can become a powerful fuel for unethical choices. It also cautions that mockery in a royal or social setting can deepen hostility and set the stage for later conflict.
Duryodhana recounts an incident in the royal setting where Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna laugh while looking at him, and Draupadī with other women also laughs, which he experiences as a painful humiliation. This recollection functions as a psychological motive behind his growing resentment.
