Śiśupāla-nigraha-prastāva: Yudhiṣṭhira’s Conciliation and Bhīṣma’s Defense of Kṛṣṇa
Book 2, Chapter 35
rājñāṃ tu pratipūjārthaṃ saṃjayaṃ sa nyayojayat | kṛtākṛtaparijñāne bhīṣmadroṇī mahāmatī ||
Righteous rule is shown through orderly delegation: honoring guests and allies is a dharmic obligation, and public duties should be supervised by wise elders who can verify what is completed and what remains, ensuring accountability and propriety.
During the royal assembly, Yudhiṣṭhira organizes service and reception for visiting kings by appointing Saṃjaya to manage their honor and attendance, while Bhīṣma and Droṇa are tasked with overseeing and checking the completion of arrangements and responsibilities.
