Bhīmasena’s Digvijaya and Tribute Return (भीमस्य दिग्विजयः धननिवेदनं च)
तं विजित्य महाबाहु: कुन्तीपुत्रो धनंजय: । प्रययावुत्तरां तस्माद् दिशं धनदपालिताम्,भगदत्तको जीतकर महाबाह कुन्तीपुत्र अर्जुन वहाँसे कुबेरद्वारा सुरक्षित उत्तर दिशामें गये
taṁ vijitya mahābāhuḥ kuntīputro dhanañjayaḥ | prayayāv uttarāṁ tasmād diśaṁ dhanadapālitām ||
既已战胜他,那臂力无双的檀那阇耶(阿周那)、昆蒂之子,便从彼处启行,向北方而去——那由“赐财者”檀那达(俱毗罗,Kubera)守护的方位。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights purposeful action after success: a righteous campaign proceeds in an orderly way, acknowledging the world’s moral-cosmic structure (the quarters and their guardians) rather than treating victory as an end in itself.
After defeating the opponent referred to as ‘him’ (contextually the king just conquered), Arjuna moves on from that place and advances toward the northern quarter, described as being under the protection of Kubera (Dhanada).
