Sabhā-parva 26
तस्य पार्थिवतामीप्से करस्तस्मै प्रदीयताम् । भवान् पितृसखा चैव प्रीयमाणो मयापि च । ततो नाज्ञापयामि त्वां प्रीतिपूर्व प्रदीयताम्
tasya pārthivatām īpse karas tasmai pradīyatām | bhavān pitṛ-sakhā caiva prīyamāṇo mayāpi ca | tato nājñāpayāmi tvāṃ prīti-pūrvaṃ pradīyatām ||
阿周那说道:“我愿他成就至上王权;因此,请将贡赋献给他。你既是我父亲的朋友,也为我所敬爱;所以我不以命令相加。请出于情谊,甘心奉上。”
अजुन उवाच
Power and political consolidation should be pursued through dharmic means: respect, persuasion, and voluntary consent rather than coercion—especially when dealing with elders and allies.
In the context of establishing Yudhiṣṭhira’s paramountcy for the Rājasūya, Arjuna urges that the royal tribute be offered to Yudhiṣṭhira, but he carefully avoids issuing an order, appealing instead to goodwill and prior bonds of friendship.
