खाण्डवप्रस्थमध्यस्थो धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिर: । आसीत् परमया लक्ष्म्या सुहृदूगणवृत: प्रभु:,केवल धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर सुहृदोंसे घिरे हुए अपनी उत्तम राजलक्ष्मीके साथ खाण्डवप्रस्थमें रह गये थे
Vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca: Khāṇḍavaprastha-madhyastho dharmarājo Yudhiṣṭhiraḥ | āsīt paramayā lakṣmyā suhṛd-gaṇa-vṛtaḥ prabhuḥ ||
毗耶娑ṃ帕耶那说道:“持守法度的法王由提施提罗,安居于建陀婆城(Khāṇḍavaprastha)中央,忠诚的友人与侍从环绕左右,王者福运极盛,光耀非常。”
वैशग्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights an ethical ideal of kingship: a ruler grounded in dharma prospers with 'lakṣmī' and is naturally supported by well-wishers. Legitimate authority is shown as resting on righteousness and loyal relationships, not merely force.
The narrator Vaiśaṃpāyana describes Yudhiṣṭhira residing at Khāṇḍavaprastha, enjoying strong royal fortune and being surrounded by friends and supporters—setting the scene for the political and courtly developments of the Sabha Parva.
