The verse highlights the ethical-spiritual power of prīti (loving regard): true affection is not merely external admiration but an inner orientation of the mind that follows the beloved. It suggests that noble attachment to a righteous guide can steady and elevate one’s inner life.
After meeting Kṛṣṇa, the Pāṇḍavas remain inwardly absorbed in him; even his darśana does not fully satisfy their longing. The narration underscores their deep bond with Kṛṣṇa and sets up the sense of separation when he is no longer before them.
