kāla eva samādatte punar eva yadṛcchayā | dhanañjaya! kālaḥ hī ināṁ sabkī jaṛa hai | saṁsārakī utpattikā bīja bhī kāla hī hai aura kāla hī phira akasmāt sabkā saṁhāra kara detā hai |
The verse teaches that Kāla (Time) is the ultimate causal power behind both creation and destruction. What appears ‘accidental’ to humans is, at a deeper level, the working of Time; therefore one should cultivate detachment, humility, and steadiness in dharma amid inevitable change.
Vyāsa addresses Arjuna (Dhanañjaya) and frames recent catastrophic events within a cosmic perspective: the rise and fall of beings and dynasties are governed by Kāla, which brings things forth and then suddenly withdraws them.
