Shloka 57

तथैवोत्थापयामासुर्गान्धारी कुरुयोषित: । स दैवं परमं॑ मत्वा भवितव्यं च पार्थिव:,इसी प्रकार कुरुकुलकी स्त्रियोंने आकर गान्धारी देवीको उठाया। भाग्य और भवितव्यताको ही प्रबल मानकर राजा धुृतराष्ट्र भारी व्यथधाका अनुभव करने लगे। उनकी विवेकशक्ति नष्ट हो गयी। वे महातपस्वी नरेश चिन्ता और शोकमें डूब गये और मोहसे पीड़ित होनेके कारण उन्हें किसी भी बातकी सुध न रही। विदुर और संजयके समझानेपर राजा धृतराष्ट्र अचेत-से होकर चुपचाप बैठे रह गये

tathaivotthāpayāmāsur gāndhārīṁ kuru-yoṣitaḥ | sa daivaṁ paramaṁ matvā bhavitavyaṁ ca pārthivaḥ |

毗舍摩波耶那说:同样,俱卢族的妇女们前来扶起甘陀利王后。然而持国王却以天命(daiva)与必然之事(bhavitavya)为至上,被剧痛所吞没;辨识之力崩塌,这位苦行的大王沉入忧惧与哀恸之中,为迷妄所困,不知所措。纵然毗度罗与三阇耶劝谏,他仍默然端坐,几近失神。
