saptadvīpā vasumatī saśailavanakānanā | jīrṇacakrā samutkṣiptā karṇena caturaṅgulam ||
三阇耶说道:当迦尔那奋力抬起战车时,大地本身——被想象为承载七洲,连同群山、森林与林苑——仿佛震颤,并连同吞住车轮之处一起上抬了四指之高,宛如那陷入其中的车轮正被强行拔出。
संजय उवाच
The verse is not a direct moral injunction but an epic portrayal of how unchecked violence and heroic exertion on the battlefield are so intense that they are described in cosmic terms—suggesting that war disturbs not only people but the very order and stability of the world.
Sañjaya describes Karṇa forcefully lifting his chariot (or freeing it when the wheel has sunk), and the impact is depicted as so great that the earth, with its sevenfold continents and natural features, seems to rise by four finger-breadths.
