अध्याय ९ — कर्णस्य प्रहारः, योधयुग्मनियोजनम्, शैनेय-कैकेययोर्युद्धविन्यासः
नावशेषं प्रपश्यामि सूतपुत्रे हते युधि
nāvaśeṣaṃ prapaśyāmi sūtaputre hate yudhi
持国王说道:“当那车夫之子在战场上被杀之时,我已看不见任何残存的希望。”
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse highlights how attachment to a single pillar of strength (here, Karṇa) can collapse one’s sense of purpose when that support falls; it implicitly warns that power and plans in war are fragile and that ethical clarity (dharma) cannot be replaced by reliance on mere might.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra reacts to news of Karṇa’s death on the battlefield, expressing that with Karṇa slain he foresees no remaining prospect for the Kauravas’ success.
