(सहाप्सरोभि: शुद्धाभिकवर्देवदूता श्व गुह्दका: । किरीटिनं संश्रिता: सम पुण्यगन्धा मनोरमा: ।।
sa-hāpsarobhiḥ śuddhābhir deva-dūtāś ca guhyakāḥ | kirīṭinaṃ saṃśritāḥ samāḥ puṇya-gandhā manoramāḥ ||
amanājñāś ca ye gandhās te sarve karṇam āśritāḥ |
viparītāny ariṣṭāni bhavanti vinaśiṣyatām ||
ye tv anta-kāle puruṣaṃ viparītam upāśritam |
praviśanti narāḥ kṣipraṃ mṛtyu-kāle ’bhyupāgate ||
te bhāvāḥ sahitāḥ karṇa praviṣṭāḥ sūta-nandanam ||
ojas tejaś ca siddhiś ca praharṣaḥ satya-vikramau |
manas-tuṣṭir jayaś cāpi tathānando nṛpottama ||
īdṛśāni nara-vyāghra tasmin saṃgrāma-sāgare |
nimittāni ca śubhrāṇi viviśur jiṣṇum āhave ||
ṛṣayo brāhmaṇaiḥ sārdham abhajan kirīṭinam |
tato deva-gaṇaiḥ sārthaṃ siddhāś ca caraṇaiḥ |
dvidhā-bhūtā mahārāja vyāśrayanta narottamau ||
vimānāni vicitrāṇi guṇavanti ca sarvaśaḥ |
samāruhya samājam ūrdhva-rathaṃ karṇa-pārthayoḥ ||
桑阇耶说道:清净的天女(阿普萨拉),与天使、以及古希亚迦众——身带吉祥香气,姿容可悦——皆来依止戴冠的阿周那;而一切令人厌恶、带来不祥的臭秽之气,却尽附于迦尔纳。 将亡之人,必现乖逆凶兆;临终之际,死亡逼近时,那受逆命所制之人的内在心相,便会迅疾侵入其身。诸般凶相与不祥,一齐进入车夫之子迦尔纳。 然而在那战斗之海中,大王啊,精力、光辉、成就、欢欣、真实的勇武、心之满足、胜利与喜悦——如此明朗的气象与吉兆——却进入战场上的吉什努(阿周那)。 诸仙与婆罗门同心拥护戴冠的阿周那。继而诸天之众,与悉达、查罗那同来,大王啊,分为两党,分别依附两位人中雄杰(阿周那与迦尔纳)。他们乘坐奇妙殊胜的天车而至,为观迦尔纳与帕尔塔那场高绝的车战对决。
संजय उवाच
The passage links ethical-spiritual condition and destiny with perceptible signs: those nearing ruin are accompanied by adverse omens and inner disarray, while one aligned with victory and right support is marked by clarity, vigor, and auspicious indications. It frames the battlefield not only as physical combat but as a moral-psychological arena where one’s end-state becomes visible.
As Karṇa and Arjuna prepare for their climactic duel, Sañjaya reports supernatural portents: celestial beings and auspicious fragrances favor Arjuna, while unpleasant, inauspicious signs attach to Karṇa. Sages, gods, siddhas, and cāraṇas gather—some taking sides—and arrive in vimānas to witness the decisive encounter.
