श्रेयस्तत्रानृतं वक्तुं तत्‌ सत्यमविचारितम्‌ | जो झूठी शपथ खानेपर भी लुटेरोंके साथ बन्धनमें पड़नेसे छुटकारा पा सके, उसके लिये वहाँ असत्य बोलना ही ठीक है। उसे बिना विचारे सत्य समझना चाहिये

Transliteration

śreyas tatrānṛtaṃ vaktuṃ tat satyam avicāritam |

Translation

风神伐由说道：“在那等境地，说一句不实之言反而更为上策；而这不实之言本身，无须再作权衡，也应当被视作‘真实’——因为若以虚誓能使一人脱离与盗贼为伍而遭捆缚、毁灭之厄，那么在彼处说假话，才是正当之道。”
