Educational Q&A

The line underscores the extraordinary nature of a deed on the battlefield by stating that even the most renowned Kaurava champions—Bhīṣma and Droṇa—would not (or could not) have done it. Ethically, it highlights how war narratives often measure actions against ideals of martial excellence and restraint.

Sañjaya, reporting to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, emphasizes that the event he is describing surpasses what the Kaurava side’s greatest commanders—Bhīṣma and Droṇa—or any other Kaurava fighters would have done in combat, thereby magnifying the significance of the moment.
