कर्णपार्षतयोर्मध्ये त्वदीयानां महारण: । भारत! कर्ण और धृष्टद्युम्नके बीचमें खड़े हुए आपके महामनस्वी योद्धाओंका पाण्डव- सैनिकोंके साथ महान संग्राम हुआ

Transliteration

karṇapārṣatayor madhye tvadīyānāṃ mahāraṇaḥ | bhārata! karṇa-dhṛṣṭadyumnayor madhye sthitānāṃ tava mahāmanasvināṃ yoddhṝṇāṃ pāṇḍava-sainikaiḥ saha mahān saṅgrāmo 'bhavat |

Translation

三阇耶说道：噢，婆罗多啊！在迦尔纳与其近侍之间的空隙处，你那些心志高洁的武士——立于迦尔纳与德里什塔丢摩那之间——与般度军展开了一场浩大而可怖的厮杀。于是战势愈发膨胀：既由对主将的忠诚所驱，也由战争无情的需求所迫；而正义与克制，则在屠戮之中经受考验。
