Even amid warfare, the epic highlights how fear and morale are shaped not only by weapons but by symbols and sound—roars, standards, and emblems become instruments that test steadiness (dhairya) and the warrior’s discipline under terror.
Sanjaya describes a moment on the battlefield where a combatant’s tremendous roar terrifies the troops; then a banner is pierced by a sharp arrow, and the great monkey-emblem—said to be crafted by Viśvakarman—appears fearsome as it roars, intensifying the atmosphere of dread and martial spectacle.
