Karṇa’s Pressure on the Pāñcālas; Duryodhana Disabled; Arjuna’s Counter-Advance
काक काकेति वाशन्तं निमज्जन्तं महार्णवे । कृपया<5<5दाय हंसस्तं जलक्लिन्न सुदुर्दुशम्
kāka kāketi vāśantaṁ nimajjantaṁ mahārṇave | kṛpayā dāya haṁsas taṁ jalaklinnaṁ sudurduśam ||
乌鸦在浩瀚大海中下沉时,哀叫道:“迦迦!迦迦!”天鹅为慈悲所动,怜悯那浑身湿透、凄惨不堪的生灵,前来相救——昭示仁慈可施于无助困厄者,不问其本性与种类。
काक उवाच
Compassion is a dharmic response to suffering: one should help the distressed when possible, even if the sufferer is insignificant or unlike oneself.
A crow, drowning in the great ocean, cries out in fear; a swan, moved by pity, takes mercy on the drenched and miserable crow and helps it.
