Aśvatthāman’s Arrow-Screen and the Confrontation with Yudhiṣṭhira
evaṁ vidvan joṣam āssva trāsāt kiṁ bahu bhāṣase
The verse contrasts wisdom with needless, fear-driven talk: a truly discerning person should restrain speech and remain composed rather than letting fear provoke excessive words.
In the midst of the Karna Parva battle context, Karna addresses an interlocutor sharply, dismissing their anxious or overlong speech and urging them to be silent and steady.
