Adhyāya 31
एष सारशथ्यमातिष्ठे राधेयस्य यशस्विन: । युध्यत: पाण्डवाग्रयेण यथा त्वं वीर मन््यसे,वीर! जैसा तुम चाहते हो उसके अनुसार मैं पाण्डव-शिरोमणि अर्जुनके साथ युद्ध करते हुए यशस्वी कर्णका सारथिकर्म अब स्वीकार किये लेता हूँ
eṣa sāraśathyam ātiṣṭhe rādheyasya yaśasvinaḥ | yudhyataḥ pāṇḍavāgryeṇa yathā tvaṃ vīra manyase ||
舍利耶说道:“噢,勇士!依你所愿,我如今接受为声名显赫的罗陀耶(迦尔那)执辔为御之职,当他与般度族之首——阿周那——交战之时。”
शल्य उवाच
The verse highlights role-dharma in warfare: once a duty is accepted—especially in a martial context—it should be carried out according to the agreed intent and standards of conduct, even when personal feelings or rivalries exist.
Shalya declares that he is taking up the charioteer’s post for Karna as Karna prepares to fight Arjuna, and he will drive in the way Karna wishes—marking Shalya’s formal assumption of this crucial battlefield role.
