Adhyāya 31
संजय उवाच एवमुक्त्वा महाराज शल्य: समितिशोभन: । उत्थाय प्रययौ तूर्ण राजमध्यादमर्षित:,संजय कहते हैं--महाराज! ऐसा कहकर युद्धमें शोभा पानेवाले शल्य अमर्षमें भर गये और राजाओंके बीचसे उठकर तुरंत चल दिये
sañjaya uvāca evam uktvā mahārāja śalyaḥ samitiśobhanaḥ | utthāya prayayau tūrṇaṃ rājamadhyād amarṣitaḥ ||
三阇耶说道:“大王啊,说罢此言,沙利耶——其临阵之姿足令战场增辉——怒气勃发,霍然起身,迅速自诸王会集之中离去。”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how words in a royal or martial setting can immediately shape conduct: wounded honor and unchecked indignation can prompt abrupt, potentially destabilizing action, reminding leaders to weigh speech and temper in assemblies.
Sanjaya reports to Dhritarashtra that Shalya, after making his statement, becomes indignant, rises from the gathering of kings, and leaves quickly—signaling a rupture in the courtly/battlefield council atmosphere.
