Karna Reproves Shalya; Brahmin Reports on Bāhlīkas; Shalya’s Universalizing Rebuttal (कर्ण–शल्य संवादः)

कर्णो होको महाबाहुर्हन्यात्‌ पार्थान्‌ ससूंजयान्‌ । कर्णस्य भुजयोर्वीर्य शक्रविष्णुसमं युधि,“अकेला महाबाहु कर्ण सूंजयोंसहित समस्त कुन्तीपुत्रोंको मार सकता है। युद्धमें कर्णका बाहुबल इन्द्र और विष्णुके समान है। उसके अस्त्र-शस्त्र भयंकर हैं तथा उस महामनस्वी वीरका पराक्रम भी अद्भुत है।' यह सब सोचकर राजा दुर्योधन संग्राममें कर्णका सहारा ले मतवाला हो उठा था

sañjaya uvāca | karṇo hy eko mahābāhur hanyāt pārthān sasūñjayān | karṇasya bhujayor vīryaṃ śakra-viṣṇu-samaṃ yudhi |

三阇耶说道:“迦尔那这位臂力无双的英雄,纵使般度诸子与苏尼阇耶同在,他也能独自将其诛灭。战阵之中,迦尔那双臂之力可与因陀罗、毗湿奴比肩。” 如此思量,杜尤陀那王在战事上倚迦尔那为最大凭恃,遂自信如醉。
