संजय कहते हैं--राजन्! कृपाचार्यने धृष्टद्युम्मको आक्रमण करते देख युद्धभूमिमें उसी प्रकार उन्हें आगे बढ़नेसे रोका, जैसे वनमें शरभ- सिंहको रोक देता है ।। निरुद्धः पार्षतस्तेन गौतमेन बलीयसा । पदात् पदं विचलितुं नाशकत्तत्र भारत,भारत! अत्यन्त बलवान् गौतमगोत्रीय कृपाचार्यसे अवरुद्ध होकर धृष्टद्युम्मन एक पग भी चलनेमें समर्थ न हो सका
sañjaya uvāca—rājan! kṛpācāryeṇa dhṛṣṭadyumnaṃ samākrāmantaṃ dṛṣṭvā raṇabhūmau tathāiva tasya agragamanaṃ nyavāryata, yathā vane śarabhaḥ siṃham iva nivārayet. niruddhaḥ pārṣatastena gautamena balīyasā; padāt padaṃ vicalituṃ nāśakat tatra, bhārata.
三阇耶说:大王啊,见德里什塔丢摩那奋力前冲欲发起攻击,克利帕阿阇黎便在战场上遏止了他的推进——正如林中舍罗婆(śarabha)能制住狮子一般。于是,被出自乔多摩族系、力大无比的克利帕所阻,普利沙塔之子(德里什塔丢摩那)在彼处竟连一步也无法前移,婆罗多啊。
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights that in warfare, raw aggression can be neutralized by disciplined strength and seasoned restraint; ethical force is not merely attack, but the capacity to check and control an opponent’s momentum.
Sanjaya reports to Dhritarashtra that Dhrishtadyumna advanced to strike, but Kripacharya—described as mightier—blocked him so completely that Dhrishtadyumna could not advance even a step, likened to a śarabha restraining a lion.
