Educational Q&A

The verse uses grim battlefield imagery to underline the ethical weight of war: even when fought under the banner of duty, violence produces dehumanizing devastation, reminding the listener that dharma in conflict is fraught and costly.

Sañjaya describes the battlefield after intense fighting: the ground is packed with fallen heads, and the arrival of crows and vultures in great numbers makes the scene look as if it is covered by a cloud’s shadow.
