Bhīṣma’s Reproof to Duryodhana
yac ca te pāṇḍavā rājan chala-dyūte parājitāḥ | yac caiva draupadī kṛṣṇā eka-vastrā rajasvalā

The verse recalls two grave wrongs—defeating the Pāṇḍavas through deceit in gambling and the public humiliation of Draupadī—highlighting how adharma (fraud, exploitation, and dishonoring a woman) becomes a moral cause for catastrophic consequences.
Sañjaya addresses the king, reminding him of the earlier injustices: the Pāṇḍavas’ loss in the rigged dice-game and Draupadī’s degrading treatment (left with a single garment while menstruating). This functions as a moral indictment and a background for the war’s inevitability.
