Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ‘raudra’ (terrible) nature of war: even celebrated heroes become instruments in an escalating conflict. Implicitly, it invites reflection on the ethical gravity of kṣatriya warfare—valor and duty unfold amid suffering and destructive momentum.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that, alongside other clashes, a fierce fight was underway on the battlefield involving Bhīma, Dhṛṣṭadyumna (called Pārṣata), and the archer Sātyaki.
