भीष्मशिबिरगमनम् — Duryodhana’s Visit to Bhīṣma’s Camp and the Command Appeal

तब इरावान्‌ भी आकाशमें उछलकर उस राक्षसको अपनी मायाओंसे मोहित करके उसके अंगोंको सायकोंद्वारा छिन्न-भिन्न करने लगा। वह कामरूपधारी श्रेष्ठ राक्षस सम्पूर्ण मर्मस्थानोंको जानने-वाला और दुर्जय था। वह बाणोंसे कटनेपर भी पुनः ठीक हो जाता था। महाराज! वह नयी जवानी प्राप्त कर लेता था; क्‍योंकि राक्षसोंमें मायाका बल स्वाभाविक होता है और वे इच्छानुसार रूप तथा अवस्था धारण कर लेते हैं | ६३-- ६५ || एवं तद्‌ राक्षसस्याजुं छिन्नं छिन्नं बभूव ह । इरावानपि संक्रुद्धों राक्षसं तं महाबलम्‌

evaṃ tad rākṣasasyāṅgaṃ chinnaṃ chinnaṃ babhūva ha | irāvān api saṃkruddho rākṣasaṃ taṃ mahābalam ||

三阇耶说道:于是那罗刹的肢体被一再斩断。伊罗梵亦怒火炽盛,不断击袭那力大无比的妖魔。然而其敌——精于幻力、能随意变形——纵被斩碎亦能复原,因为此等摩耶本为罗刹天性。此段昭示:战场之上,纯粹的蛮力常遭诡计与异样的韧性相抗,所需的不仅是勇武,更是明辨。
