Chapter 89: Bhīma dispatched to protect Ghaṭotkaca amid escalating engagements
तत्राक्रन्दो महानासीत् तावकानां महात्मनाम् | वध्यतां समरे राजन् पार्षतेन महात्मना,राजन! महामना धृष्टद्युम्न समरांगणमें जब आपके योद्धाओंका वध कर रहे थे, उस समय उन महामनस्वी वीरोंका आर्तक्रन्दन बड़े जोरसे सुनायी देता था
tatrākrando mahān āsīt tāvakānāṁ mahātmanām | vadhyatāṁ samare rājan pārṣatena mahātmanā ||
三阇耶说道:“在那里,大王啊,当陛下那些高魂之士在战斗中被伟大的普利沙塔之子(持军,Dhṛṣṭadyumna)所斩杀时,军中响起了震天的哀号。”
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores the human cost of war: even “great-souled” warriors, when struck down, give rise to collective lamentation. It implicitly highlights the ethical weight of kṣatriya warfare—heroism and duty coexist with suffering and grief.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Dhṛṣṭadyumna (called Pārṣata) is killing the Kaurava fighters on the battlefield, and the intense cries of distress from those warriors are heard as they fall.
