Yudhiṣṭhira–Śrutāyu encounter; Cekitāna–Gautama clash; Abhimanyu pressure; Arjuna’s redeployment
sa taiḥ parivṛtaḥ pārtho bhrātṛbhiḥ kṛtaniścayaiḥ | prajāsaṃharaṇe sūryaḥ krūrair iva mahāgrahaiḥ ||

The verse highlights how collective resolve can become overpowering and ominous when driven by harsh intent; the cosmic simile (Sun beset by cruel grahas at dissolution) frames the moment as morally weighty and foreboding, warning that determined action in a destructive context carries grave ethical consequences.
Sañjaya describes Kuntī’s son (here identified as Bhīma) being encircled by his brothers, all firmly decided on their course of action; the scene is intensified through a comparison to the Sun surrounded by formidable, cruel planets at the time of catastrophic destruction.
