The verse highlights how political loyalty in a royal army is reinforced through prosperity, honor, and especially patronage (upakāra). It implicitly raises an ethical tension: allegiance may arise not only from dharma but also from obligation created by favors and material support.
Sañjaya is describing the strength and cohesion of the Kaurava forces to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, emphasizing that the warriors are prosperous, well-born, socially supported, and bound by gratitude for benefits received—thereby portraying them as confident and dependable in the coming battle.
