Bhīmasena–Duryodhana Engagement at Sunset

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the psychological and ethical intensity of war: when victory becomes the dominant aim, collective aggression swells into a single overwhelming force. It implicitly invites reflection on how desire for conquest (jigīṣā) amplifies conflict and its consequences.

Sañjaya describes the assembled fighters on the battlefield. As they close in, determined to defeat one another, their combined shouts and roars rise into a deafening tumult, compared to lions roaring.
