Chapter 7: Dvīpa–Varṣa–Meru-varṇana
Description of the Dvīpa, Varṣas, and Mount Meru
उत्तरा: कुरवो राजन् व्याख्यातास्ते समासतः । मेरो: पार्श्वमहं पूर्व वक्ष्याम्यथ यथातथम्
uttarāḥ kuravo rājan vyākhyātās te samāsataḥ | meroḥ pārśvam ahaṃ pūrvaṃ vakṣyāmy atha yathātatham ||
三阇耶说道:“大王啊,我已略述北俱卢(Uttara-Kuru)之境。如今我将依次如实讲述,位于须弥山(Meru)东面的跋陀罗湿婆(Bhadrāśva)之地。”
संजय उवाच
The verse foregrounds disciplined narration and truthfulness: the speaker promises an orderly, accurate account (“yathātatham”), modeling responsible speech and reliable transmission of knowledge to the king.
Sanjaya, addressing King Dhṛtarāṣṭra, concludes a brief description of Uttara-Kuru and transitions to the next geographical section: Bhadrāśva, located on the eastern side of Mount Meru.
