Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the warrior-ethic of not remaining indifferent when a comrade is wronged or harmed in battle. It frames solidarity and protection of one’s own side as part of kṣatriya-dharma, where endurance has limits when honor and duty demand response.

Sañjaya reports that Bhīma has been struck and is visibly distressed. Seeing this, the Pāṇḍava champions—headed by Abhimanyu—are unable to tolerate the sight and are stirred to retaliate or intensify their effort in the fight.
