Kaurava–Pāṇḍava Readiness
तमुवाच तत:ः पादौ कराभ्यां पीड्य पाण्डव: । भीष्मं शान्तनवं राजा युद्धाय समुपस्थितम्,वहाँ जाकर उन पाण्डुनन्दन राजा युधिष्ठिरने अपने दोनों हाथोंसे पितामहके चरणोंको दबाया और युद्धके लिये उपस्थित हुए उन शान्तनुनन्दन भीष्मसे इस प्रकार कहा
tam uvāca tataḥ pādau karābhyāṃ pīḍya pāṇḍavaḥ | bhīṣmaṃ śāntanavaṃ rājā yuddhāya samupasthitam ||
三阇耶说道：随后，般度之子、般度族之王尤提士提罗以双手按抚祖父的双足以示敬礼，向那位为战而立的圣檀努之子毗湿摩如此陈辞。此景更显战争中的伦理张力：纵使交锋已不可免，武士之王仍以谦恭、敬长与求得许可或祝福来守持法（dharma），然后才踏入杀伐。
