Kaurava–Pāṇḍava Readiness
sañjaya uvāca | ṛṣayaś ca mahābhāgāḥ puraskṛtya śatakratum | samīyus tatra sahitā draṣṭuṃ tad vaiśasaṃ mahat ||

The verse highlights that the war’s violence is not merely political but morally and cosmically significant: even exalted sages gather to witness it, implying that adharma and its consequences become visible on a grand stage, inviting reflection on responsibility and the cost of conflict.
Sañjaya reports that great sages assemble at the battlefield, with Indra placed at their forefront, to observe the immense carnage unfolding—framing the Kurukṣetra conflict as an event watched by higher beings.
