This is a concluding colophon that names the chapter’s central theme: discerning the difference between kṣetra (the field of embodied experience—body, mind, nature) and kṣetrajña (the knower—conscious awareness). It frames the teaching as brahmavidyā (liberating knowledge of ultimate reality) presented through yogaśāstra (a disciplined method).
The verse functions as a formal end-of-chapter marker within the Mahābhārata’s Bhīṣma Parva, identifying the text as part of the Bhagavad Gītā section and closing the unit of instruction delivered as a dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna, specifically the chapter titled “Kṣetra–Kṣetrajña-Vibhāga Yoga.”
