vinivṛttān kurūn dṛṣṭvā pāṇḍavā api svasainikān | dūtaiḥ śīghrāśvasaṃyuktaiḥ samantāt paryavārayan ||
三阇耶说道:见俱卢诸军自战阵中退去,般度五子亦遣骑快马之使者遍往四方,传令己军止战。
संजय उवाच
Even amid war, conduct is governed by dharma: when the opponent withdraws, continuing violence becomes needless and blameworthy; disciplined leadership restrains troops and prevents gratuitous harm.
Sañjaya reports that the Kuru forces turn back from combat; observing this, the Pāṇḍavas send swift mounted messengers in all directions to signal their own army to stop fighting as well.
