The verse highlights the ethical power of speech: boastful or provocative words, especially from leaders, can inflame anger in others and accelerate violence. It implicitly warns that unrestrained rhetoric in a charged setting undermines self-control and makes reconciliation harder.
Sanjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that, after hearing the spirited words of the king’s son (Duryodhana), the assembled warriors become intensely agitated and filled with wrath, signaling a rising battle-fervor among the Kaurava side.
