Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes seeking truthful, beneficial counsel from a respected elder when facing grave decisions—especially in war—highlighting the ethical value of truth (satya) and prudent consultation.

Sanjaya proposes that they go together to Bhishma, the Kuru grandsire, because Bhishma—when specifically questioned—will speak the truth and provide effective, welfare-oriented guidance for confronting the enemy.
