Bhīmasena’s Engagement with Multiple Mahārathas

jaghānātra pitā putraṃ putraś ca pitaraṃ tathā

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the moral collapse that war can produce: even the most fundamental bonds—father and son—can be violated when violence and factional duty eclipse compassion and familial dharma.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra the battlefield horror that, in the fighting, fathers and sons ended up killing each other, emphasizing the chaos and indiscriminate nature of the conflict.
