Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharma in giving: an offering is ethically elevated when it is pure and honestly acquired through self-discipline (niyama), and when it is given with humility and goodwill toward the recipient.

Nakula respectfully presents simple provisions—pure saktu—stressing that they were obtained through disciplined, rightful means, and asks the honored Brahmin to accept the gift as an act of proper hospitality.
