Marutta’s Sacrifice and Agni’s Embassy
vajraṁ gṛhītvā ca purandara tvaṁ samprahārṣī kṣyavanasya atighoram | sa te vipraḥ saha vajreṇa bāhum apāgṛhṇāt tapasā jātamanyuḥ purandara |

Power—whether divine or martial—must be governed by dharma; tapas and brahminical spiritual authority can restrain even Indra’s thunderbolt when violence is about to be misapplied.
Indra (Śakra/Purandara) raises the vajra to strike the sage Cyavana, but the enraged brahmarṣi, through ascetic power, immobilizes Indra’s arm along with the weapon, preventing the blow.
