गन्धर्वा गीतकुशला नृत्येषु च विशारदा: । रमयन्ति सम तान्‌ विप्रान्‌ यज्ञकर्मान्तरेषु वै

Transliteration

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: Gandharvā gītakuśalā nṛtyeṣu ca viśāradāḥ | ramayanti sma tān viprān yajñakarmāntareṣu vai ||

Translation

毗湿摩波耶那说道：乾闼婆众善于歌唱，精于舞蹈，常在祭祀仪轨的间隙使那些婆罗门祭官欢悦。由此可见，即便在阿湿婆梅陀那般肃穆严整的戒律之中，艺术亦能以合乎法（dharma）的方式施用：使执礼者得以舒缓振作，并维系仪式有序流转，而不损其神圣。
